Talmadge Law Obituary

Talmadge Law, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday morning, August 5, 2025, at his home in Trafalgar, Indiana.

He was born on August 22, 1935, in Allen County, Kentucky, to the late Rory V. and Mary D. (Meador) Law. Talmadge was a 1951 graduate of Warren County High School in Bowling Green, Kentucky and went on to serve as a Specialist 4 with the United States Army. Talmadge retired in 1991 as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer from the General Motors Truck and Bus Plant in Indianapolis, where he dedicated over 35 years of service.

Talmadge was musically gifted and found great joy in playing guitar and performing with his band, Talmadge Law & Bluegrass Sounds. His love for bluegrass music carried into his travels, often stopping at festivals along the way with his beloved wife. He also enjoyed woodworking, horseback riding, and traveling to the oceans and mountains — always with a spirit of adventure and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Betty (Meador) Law, whom he married on June 29, 1956, in Indianapolis. Talmadge was a proud and loving father to Aaron (Beverly) Law of Columbia, Tennessee, Tina (Joe) Hendershot of Nashville & Tammy (Eddie) Chaney of Trafalgar. He was also a cherished grandfather to Clint (Megan) Law, Jessie (Mark) Allen, Heather (Todd) Ferguson, Cole (Heather) Sawyer, and Seth Law, and great-grandfather to Wyatt Allen; Gavin, Garrett, and Grayson Ferguson; and Chloe, Olivia, and Brileigh Sawyer.

In addition to his parents, Talmadge was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Law, and his sister, Wanetta Shelley.
