Steven Parsley Obituary

Steven Lyle Parsley, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, January 11, 2026, at IU Health – Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a lifetime resident of Johnson County.

Steven was born in Franklin, on August 19, 1947, to the late Nathaniel “Nat” W. and Garnet M. (Voyles) Parsley. He was a 1965 graduate of Franklin Community High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Specialist Five. Steven was honorably discharged in July of 1969.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Steven owned and operated Parsley Transport Inc. for over 30 years in Indianapolis, retiring in 1998. In addition to his trucking business, he worked faithfully on his family farm in Johnson County, where he raised corn and soybeans—work he took great pride in throughout his life.

Steven was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union Local 135 in Indianapolis and a former member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Greenwood.

Known for his many interests, Steven was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana University football. He enjoyed watching old western movies, especially Gunsmoke, and was a passionate automobile enthusiast who especially loved his big Cadillacs and Chevys over the years. Though he collected many things, Steven’s greatest joy and true passion was his family—especially his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his children, Jason Parsley of Trafalgar and Laura (Johnny III) Lippert of Greenwood; his sister, Nancy Wilson of Morgantown; his grandchildren, Bryce, Brooklynn, and Dylan Rowley; Nathan Lyle Parsley; Johnny IV and Lincoln Lyle Lippert; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Parsley, and his brother-in-law, Daniel Wilson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Meredith Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street, Morgantown.
