Sheila K. Freeman, age 74, passed away at her home in Martinsville on Thursday morning, April 3, 2025. She was born on August 8, 1950, in Martinsville to the late Melvin B. and Mary L. (Gearin) Lehr. Sheila was a 1968 graduate of Martinsville High School and dedicated her life to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.
Sheila is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Orville E. Freeman, whom she married on January 29, 1972. Sheila is also survived by her children: Melody (Bryce) Urban of Bowling Green, KY, and Gary (Melissa) Freeman of Cloverdale; her siblings: Sandy (Frank) Weaver of Martinsville and Byron Lehr of Martinsville; and her beloved grandchildren: Samuel (Katelyn) Freeman, Samantha (Steven) Deckard, Dylan Freeman, Miranda (Eric) McComb, and Noah (Olivia) Urban.
Sheila will be remembered for her incredible cooking and that food was her love language, often feeding the entire neighborhood. She was an avid fan of the Lifetime Channel and enjoyed shopping on QVC. Sheila had a deep love for travel, camping, and fishing, especially with her husband at Cades Cove in Tennessee. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the care she gave to her cats.
A Celebration of Sheila’s Life will be held at a later date. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
