Ruth Schroeder-Robinson Obituary

Ruth Evelyn (Cox) Schroeder-Robinson, age 91, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 19, 2025. She passed away peacefully at her home in Morgantown, surrounded by her loving family.

Ruth was born on August 3, 1933, to the late Joseph and Hazel (Hundley) Cox. She grew up on a sharecropping farm in Amity, alongside her seven siblings. Ruth attended school in Edinburgh until the age of 14, when she lost her mother and took on the responsibility of helping care for her younger siblings. She later worked at Camp Atterbury, where she met her future husband, Claude Schroeder. Together, they had two children, Lora and Mike, and lived in Helmsburg before settling in Morgantown.

Ruth was a cherished friend to all who knew her, whether from her time as an office administrator at Morgantown School or her twelve years serving as the Clerk/Treasurer for the town of Morgantown. She was a devoted member of the First Christian Church of Morgantown, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Ruth was a master of needlework, a lover of history and nature, and enjoyed tending to her flower gardens. She was well-known for her humor and storytelling at local bluegrass festivals, and her home was always open to friends and family alike, with a meal and laughter to share.

Ruth is survived by her loving son, David Michael (Debbie) Schroeder; cherished siblings, Harold (Doris) Cox, Catherine Lane, and Francis Rund; grandchildren, Robyn (Daline Beachler) Ford, Rachel Ford, Clinton (Amber) Schroeder, Jessie Ford, and Heather Ford; great-grandchildren, Nazrana Nazaire, Baylee Ford, Gavin Ford, Brinley Ford, Logan Ford-Beachler, Lainee Schroeder, and Canaan Schroeder; and great-great-granddaughter, Naomi Lora Nazaire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Claude Schroeder; and siblings, JoAnn, Jack, Alvie and Leland Cox. Ruth was recently preceded in death by her second husband, Phillip Robinson; daughter, Lora Schroeder; and grandsons, Paul and Lucas Ford.

In keeping with Ruth’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. Online condolences can be shared with her family at meredith-clark.com. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
