Ruth Hall, age 82, of Franklin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday morning, June 22, 2026.
Ruth was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on September 10, 1943, to the late Sam and Violet Johnson. She was raised by Norbert and Daisy Fitzpatrick and was a 1961 graduate of Franklin Community High School and later attended Indiana University. Ruth retired from Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, where she worked in medical records and social services. Following retirement, she worked at Needham Elementary School as a Chapter 1 Reading Tutor and later served as an assistant to veterinarian David Morgan in Greenwood.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Morgantown and was formerly involved with the Johnson County Jogging Club, the Johnson County Sheriff's Horse Patrol, and the Johnson County Humane Society. Ruth enjoyed participating in mission trips, painting portraits and fine art, and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed reading nonfiction, watching birds and monarch butterflies, raising horses, cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, and caring for her beloved dog, Deuce.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughters, Kimberly Whitham and Stephanie Allender; and her siblings, Sam Johnson, Sally Winkler, and Mary Jo Limp.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Gary G. Hall, whom she married on February 14, 1982, in Franklin. She is also survived by her children, Tracy (Tim) Mingacci of Sebring, Florida; Tina Cox of Franklin; Jill (Gary) Cave of Brown County; Lynn (Ralph) Hecht of Knightstown; and Glenn Hall of Princes Lakes; her siblings, Jane Smith of Columbus and Fred Fitzpatrick of Trafalgar; 23 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 2717 Old Morgantown Road, Morgantown. An additional hour of visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Monday.
The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
