Robert “Bob” Ainslee Adams, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, May 20, 2026, at Willow Crossing Health & Rehabilitation Center in Columbus. He was a resident of Edinburgh.
Bob was born on July 2, 1937, in Indianapolis to the late Noble and Mary (Cullen) Adams. He was a graduate of Helmsburg High School. Bob retired in 2002 from Arvin Industries in Franklin, where he worked as an electrical foreman for more than 25 years. Following retirement, he worked as a clerk at JayC Food Store in Edinburgh.
Bob enjoyed reading Louis L’Amour western novels, antiquing, and fishing. He also enjoyed cheering for Indiana sports teams and watching the RFD Channel on television. Above all, he loved his family dearly, especially spending time with his grandchildren during family gatherings.
Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nadine (Burton) Adams, who passed away on August 3, 1999. The couple was married on January 11, 1982, in Robertson County, Tennessee. He was also preceded in death by his son, Mark Adams; son, Randy Merideth; brother, David Brewster Adams; granddaughter, Kelly Strange; and son-in-law, Boyd Mitchell.
Bob is survived by his children, Michael (Julie) Adams of Nashville, Sondra (Leonard) Bennett of Edinburgh, and Cheryl Mitchell of Edinburgh; brothers, Tom Adams of North Vernon and Ronald (Sue) Adams of Columbus; daughter-in-law, April Adams of Martinsville; grandchildren, Michaela, Christopher, Emily, and Ryan Adams, Matt Bennett, Julie Sizemore, Jarad Mitchell, and Amy Girdler; 10 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross Street in Edinburgh. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith Funeral Home in Morgantown.
