Ray N. Wilkerson

Ray N. Wilkerson, age 69 passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, June 18, 2024 at his home in Brown County.

Ray was born June 10, 1955 in Franklin, to his parents, the late Virgil and Lillie (Peavler) Wilkerson. He attended Brown County High School and went on to serve as a Specialist 4 with the United States Army. Ray was honorably discharged in 1976.

He was employed as a Lead Inspector at KYB in Franklin for many years. Ray was a member of the Friendship Church in Trafalgar and was a 30-year member of the Laborers’ International Union of North America Local 120 in Indianapolis. He enjoyed the outdoors with fishing and deer hunting. Ray was a fan of the World Wrestling Federation and the Indianapolis Colts. He will be remembered for his love of family and his unique ability to restore automobiles. 

Besides his parents, Ray was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joy Marie and a brother, James Michael Wilkerson.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 14 years, Anita C. (Sizemore) Wilkerson, whom he married on September 20, 2009 in Trafalgar. Ray is also survived by his children, Neil Warfield of Franklin, Lisa Axsom of Tennessee and Nathaniel Warfield of Brown County; siblings, Ronnie (Barbara) Wilkerson of McCordsville, Glen (Loretta) Wilkerson of Morgantown, Karen (Floyd) Grimes of Brown County, Christy (Balard) Sizemore of Brown County and Johnny Wilkerson of Nashville; 9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 21st at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown with military rites presented by the United States Army and the Brown County Honor Guard.
