Ralph “Bud” Edward Lammers, age 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at his home in Martinsville.
Bud was born May 13, 1943, in Beech Grove, to his parents, the late Herman E. and Gladys M. (Dodd) Lammers. He was a 1961 graduate of Southport High School and went on to attend Ball State University. Bud married Judith “Judy” Randle on September 22, 1998, in Las Vegas, and they shared 27 devoted years together.
Bud worked for Indiana Bell and later retired from AT&T in the 1980s after many years of dedicated service. He was a devoted member of the Painted Hills Community, where he actively served on the Lakes Committee and as Head of Security. In that role, he was especially known for his care and watchfulness, making sure every child arrived home safely from the bus—something that meant a great deal to many families.
A man of faith, Bud was a member of Hoosier Harvest Church in Martinsville. Bud was also a member of the Elks Lodge #1349 in Martinsville.
He enjoyed working crossword puzzles in his spare time, but was best known for his love of sports. Bud was a devoted fan who faithfully kept track of the Cubs, Colts, and all IU athletics. He loved being active in sports himself, playing in baseball and softball leagues and coaching youth baseball for many years. Whether cheering from the stands or the living room, Bud’s enthusiasm for the game was contagious. Above all, Bud cherished time spent with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed relaxing days on the lake, where laughter, stories, and good company were always in abundance.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Judy Lammers of Martinsville; children, Julia (Gabriel) Ruiz of Sherman Oaks, California, Jodie (Bryan) Luton of Eatonton, Georgia, Jeffery (Jennifer) Lammers of Martinsville, and Joseph (Candace) Lammers of Morgantown; step daughter, Jennifer (Doug) King of Worthington; grandchildren, Alexandra, Blake, Brea, Emma, Lauren, Mya and Savannah; two great-grandchildren; and his half-sister, Karen McCreary.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Phillip Lammers; and his daughter-in-law, Carrie Lammers.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 16th at Hoosier Harvest Church: 4085 Leonard Road in Martinsville. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith Funeral Home in Morgantown.
Memorial contributions can be sent in memory of Bud to the Morgan County Humane Society: 690 W Mitchell Ave, Martinsville, IN 46151.
