Phyllis M. “Philly” (Manifold) Garland, age 76 passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, January 21, 2026. She was a resident of Camby.
Philly was born in Indianapolis on February 2, 1949 to her parents, the late Roy and Velma Manifold. She attended Manuel High School in Indianapolis. Philly was retired from the Millwrights Union Local 1003 in Indianapolis where she worked as a secretary for over 30 years.
Philly was a member of the Five Points Baptist Church in Mooresville where she participated in the Lady’s Bible Study Group. Philly enjoyed bowling, collecting crystals & angels, working jigsaw puzzles and reading her Bible. Her family was her true calling. She loved them all dearly and was devoted to them.
Philly is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Louis Garland, whom she married on June 21, 1991 in Indianapolis. Philly is also survived by her children, Tracy (Lonnie) Goble of Camby, Brian (Tricia) Welty of Franklin, Trevor (Jade) Lawson of Camby, Carrie (Jeff) Hogan of Trafalgar and Katherine Garland of Mooresville; siblings, Millie Horn of Colorado, Roy (Sharon) Manifold of Beech Grove, Alvin (Connie) Manifold of Whiteland, Richard (Brian) Manifold of Florida, Don (Debbie) Manifold of Camby and Dean (Ruby) Manifold of Indianapolis; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Philly was preceded in death by a son, Nathan Garland; brother, Joey Manifold; great granddaughter, Kinsleigh Welty; and a brother-in-law, Michael Horn.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27th from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Meredith Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Pastor Tony Geralds will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
