Peggy (Lockhart) Johnson, age 72, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, August 24, 2024 at Franklin Meadows. She was a resident of Whiteland and longtime resident of Johnson County.
Peggy was born May 1, 1952 in Staten Island, New York to her parents the late George “Purdy” and Ruth Evelyn (Sartorius) Lockhart. She was a 1970 graduate of Port Richmond High School in Staten Island.
Peggy retired in 2015 from the Accounts Payable Department at WISH-TV. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, and shopping. She spent time in the outdoors watching birds and filling her many bird baths for them to enjoy. Peggy also enjoyed watching sports, especially golf and hockey, on the television and listening to her favorite artists Earth, Wind & Fire and Hall & Oates. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She will be missed by her husband of 35 years Terry Johnson whom she married on February 27, 1989 in Aberdeen, New Jersey. She will also be missed by her children: Mallory (Daniel) Harkness of Whiteland, Shelly (Charlie) Riff of Franklin, Wendy Avila of Hackettstown, New Jersey, and George (Darlene) Morales of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Michael, Allen and Kevin O’Connor, Melody and Lexi Riff, Brandon, Isabella, Alina and Nikko Avila, George, Danielle, and Gio Morales, Gabriel and Caleb Harkness; several great grandchildren and sister, Suzanne (Michael) Hosmer of Wake Forest, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Arthur Lockhart, Joan Luberto, and Beverly Gafforio.
In keeping with her wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown
