Paul Robert Kidwell

Paul Robert Kidwell, 74, of New Palestine, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, November 22, 2024, at IU Health – Methodist in Indianapolis.

Born October 19, 1950, in Indianapolis, Paul was the son of the late Arthur “Bob” and Betty Jean (Dusang) Kidwell. He graduated from Southport High School in 1969 and enjoyed a distinguished career at AT&T, retiring in 2008 after 38 years of service. After retirement, Paul continued to serve his community as a school bus driver for the Southern Hancock School Corporation.

Paul was an active member of the New Palestine United Church, where he served as an Elder, and he was also a member of the New Palestine Masonic Lodge #404. From 1969 to 1976, he was a proud member of the Hoosier Trailblazers Four-Wheel Club. Paul had many passions, including tending to his vegetable garden, fishing, woodworking, camping, and attending Indy Car races—his lifelong favorite sport. Paul enjoyed caring for his dog, Destiny, but most of all, he cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he enjoyed coaching in their sports endeavors.

Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Linda C. (Fleener) Kidwell, whom he married on April 24, 1999, in Indianapolis. He is also survived by his mom, Marilyn Kidwell of Greenwood; children, Jennifer (Brandon) Heck of Indianapolis, Amanda Kent of Greenfield and Barbara (Rob) Souchon of Greenwood; sisters, Sharon (Dale) Morgan of Coatesville, Janet Brandlein of Indianapolis and Susan (Ron) Roberts of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Erin Kidwell, Zachary Heck, Clayton Ledford, Emma Heck, Robert Souchon II, Allie Heck, and Sarah Souchon; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Kidwell, Charlie Kidwell and Nora Houston; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet L. (Spickler) Kidwell; son, Robert D. Kidwell, and a sister, Tammy Childs.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street, Morgantown, with Pastor Clark LeMaire officiating. Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, December 3rd, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery in Brown County.
