Nancy Trommater Obituary

Nancy A. Trommater, age 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, May 15, 2025, at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Greenwood Village South and a former longtime resident of Brown County.

Nancy was born on October 12, 1935, in Niles, Michigan, to the late Orville and Mary Alice (Platt) Southworth. She was a graduate of Niles High School and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

In 1974, Nancy and her husband, Max, moved their family to a home on Fruitdale Road in Brown County, where she lived until relocating to Magnolia Hills Retirement Park in Plant City, Florida, in 2006. In November 2023, she moved into residential living at Greenwood Village South in Greenwood, where she quickly made many dear friends and lived independently until April 2025.

Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Max L. Trommater, who passed on May 10, 2005; her daughter, Jill Sturgeon; her beloved dog, Gracie; great-granddaughter, Sage Sturgeon; brother, Al Southworth; and several brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws, as well as nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her children: Pamela (David Lee) Goff of Indianapolis and Eric (Vickie) Trommater of Brown County; her grandchildren: Josh (Meredith Hargis) Ferry, Alyson Ferry, Amanda (Nate) O’Neall, Carrie (Luke) Haworth, Brandon Sturgeon, Jessica (Michael) Goebel, Brooke Sturgeon, and Alice Wang. Nancy was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Nico, Maybelle, and Ora Sturgeon; Olivia, Jack, and Lincoln Ferry; Braxton and Avery O’Neall; Landon Haworth and Maxell Goebel. She is also survived by her cousin Nona Girdwood and her best friend Anita Hebert.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 19th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., officiated by Pastor Mike Southworth. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville.

Nancy’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the nurses, caregivers, and Chaplain Rich at Franciscan Hospice House for their kind and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s memory to the Brown County Humane Society, 128 State Road 135 South, Nashville, IN 47448.
