Martin D. McClary, age 59, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at his home in Martinsville.
He is survived by the love of his life, Ann McClary; his daughters, Mesha (Jamie Johnson) McClary of New York City and Mariah (Patrick Rosemark) McClary of Trafalgar; several cousins he considered sisters—Mary, Kim, and Candi; and his Aunt Vicki.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his maternal grandparents, Robert “Bob” and Martha Glenn.
He was born on August 9, 1966, in Indianapolis to his parents, the late Carroll “CD” McClary and Martha “Ellen” (Glenn) McClary. Martin was a 1984 graduate of Indian Creek High School.
Since 1986, Martin worked for Gaile’s Gas & Electric, Inc which would later become Gaile’s Propane. He had numerous roles within the company structure from tank installations, propane delivery, to a management position in 1996, but will be most remembered for his ability to work with numbers and navigate paperwork with ease. He enjoyed talking to and filling cylinders for customers and was always known for his quick service. Martin later became an administrative assistant once Gaile’s was acquisitioned by Premier Energy. He was dedicated to his work and was known for going the extra mile. Martin was someone you could always count on, no matter the situation.
Over the years Martin attended Spirit of Life Church and Life of Love Church in Martinsville. He was also a sports writer for several area publications for a few years, where he wrote columns on both high school and college level football and basketball games. He enjoyed attending sporting events—especially Indian Creek games—with his cousin Garrett and his family.
Martin had a deep love for animals, especially his cats. In earlier years, he enjoyed music and playing basketball. He also had a great love for food and took great pride in cooking and grilling, earning the nickname “Grill Master” from his family. In his free time he enjoyed getting boba tea with his daughters, going to Florida with his family, and watching UFC on the TV. Above all, Martin loved his family deeply and cherished the time they spent together.
Martin was best known for his boundless energy, unrelenting faith and positivity, and infectious smile. He took joy with him wherever he went. He loved to talk and could carry on a conversation for hours. Martin was the life of the party and would light up the room with his smile. He always put others first and was the most selfless guy, especially when it came to his family and friends.
