Martha A. (Bowman) Gregg-McClure, age 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025. A longtime resident of Mooresville, Martha also cherished her time wintering in Everglade City and St. Pete, Florida.
Born on March 18, 1931, in Eminence, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Raymon V. and Ella M. (Grounds) Bowman. A 1949 graduate of Eminence High School, Martha went on to earn a business degree from Indiana Business College in Indianapolis.
Martha dedicated much of her career to the insurance industry, retiring as an Underwriter from Prudential Insurance Company after 20 years of service in Florida. Prior to that, she worked in the same role for GMAC in Indianapolis for 25 years.
A woman of deep faith, Martha was a devoted member of Mt. Gilead Church in Mooresville and formerly attended Morgantown Baptist Church and Indian Rocks Baptist Church in Florida. She had a passion for singing in church, sharing her voice with joy and love. Martha was also a gifted seamstress known for her intricate needlework, and she found great happiness in traveling, cooking, gardening and spending time with friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George C. “Tag” Gregg, who passed on November 13, 1995, and her second husband, Emery Frank McClure, her high school sweetheart, who passed on October 17, 2023. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Vernon Gregg and her siblings Basil Bowman, Beulah Kirk, James Bowman.
Martha is survived by her three sons, Michael (Mary) Gregg of Morgantown, Rev. Steven (Kim) Gregg of Gainesville, FL, and Raymon (Anna) Gregg of Simpsonville, SC; stepdaughters Teresa Stagner of Plainfield, Claudia Pruitt of Mooresville, and Brenda (Terry) Caudill of Plainfield; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted by Rev. Burt Brock at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30th at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street, Morgantown.
