Margaret R. (Wade) Gamble, age 95 passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, July 19, 2024 at Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community in Franklin. She was a resident of Brown County and a former resident of Indianapolis.
Margaret was born November 14, 1928 in Big Stone Gap, VA to her parents, the late Echol H. and Lucille R. (Russell) Wade. She worked for several years at Dual Machine Co. and RCA, both in Indianapolis, as a Line Worker, but her true passion was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and homemaker. She enjoyed raising her children, taking them to church and cooking family meals. Margaret will be remembered for being a one-of-a-kind mother with simple ways. She will also be remembered for her tasty carrot cake with homemade frosting, spaghetti & meatballs and soup beans. Margaret was a 50-year member of Locust Grove Pentecostal Church in Brown County.
Besides her parents, Margaret was preceded in death in January of 2007 by her husband, Robert “Hank” Gamble, whom she married on October 13, 1994 in Indianapolis. Margaret was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra “Sandy” Burkhart; and nine siblings.
She is survived by her sons, Michael S. (Billie Jo) Woodard of Brown County and Charles R. (Valarie) Woodard of Greenwood; grandchildren, Connie L. (Mark) Doyle of Mooresville, Paul D. Burkhart of Morgantown and Donna (Bradley) Fisher of Nineveh, Christi R. Horn of Indianapolis, Amy D. Woodard of Greenfield, Elijah R. (Rachel) Woodard of Bargersville, Emily (Nick) Kenworthy of Greenwood, Daniel Woodard of Greenwood, Diana Callon of Columbus, Cynthia M. Woodard of Mooresville, Michael S. Woodard Jr. of Nineveh; sixteen great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Bro. Jay Griffie will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday, July 24th at 1:30 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
