Kay was born March 5, 1936 in Brown County, to her parents, the late Lee and Marie (Purtlebaugh) Crabtree. She graduated high school in 1953 in Columbus, Georgia. She married James Duff Sr. and spent over 30 years together, building a beautiful family, raising their three children, Jim Jr., Jennylee & Tim. She was later married to Ted Hedrick for 20 years until his passing.
Kay retired from Hooks Drug Store, later known as CVS, in Nashville as a cashier and enjoyed working in the Hooks Drug Store museum serving hand-mixed, carbonated beverages and ice cream sodas. She later worked at the BMV in Nashville and was a “sample tasting lady” for Sams Club.
In her free time, Kay enjoyed gardening and attending auctions, always looking for authentic antiques. She loved watching sports especially IU basketball and football, listening to country music, crafting wreaths and in her younger years, sewing. Most of all she cherished the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be missed by her son, James (Donna) Duff Jr.; grandchildren, Tyler (Amy) Duff, Trevor (Sarah) Duff, Sabra Duff, Elijah (Lexie) Duff, Jonathon Roberts and Kristin Roberts; great grandchildren: Hayleigh, Hannah, Henley, Harper Duff and Sophia Young; and daughter-in-law, Robin Rose.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jennylee Duff; son, Timothy Duff; great grandchild, Ayden Lentz and sister, Janet Sutton.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 9th at the CRC Building (Career Resource Building) 260 School House Lane in Nashville. She will be laid to rest with a private family graveside service at Garland Brook Cemetery, next to her daughter, Jennylee. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown
