Joy Elaine (Brindley) Artman, age 62, passed away all too soon on Wednesday evening, January 1, 2025 at her home in Morgantown.
Joy was born on August 27, 1962, in Indianapolis, IN, to the late William and Hazel (Davis) Brindley. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, sister, and aunt, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Joy worked for 10 years as the Meat Manager at the Woodchuck IGA in Morgantown, where she earned the respect and affection of coworkers and customers alike. She was known for her incredible cooking, particularly her broccoli casserole, fried chicken, and homemade potato salad, all of which became family favorites. Her love of food was surpassed only by her passion for spending time with her loved ones.
In her free time, Joy enjoyed watching old sitcoms, including Big Bang Theory and Little House on the Prairie, and was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan. She was also deeply devoted to caring for her dogs and loved the company of her family.
Joy is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Philip Lee Artman, whom she married on July 3, 1986, in Indianapolis; her children Randy (Megan) Finch of Helmsburg, Brandy Finch, and Patrick Artman, both of Morgantown; her siblings, Jeannie (Tony Kay) Johnson of Florida, Jill (Ray) Sorrell of Arlington, and Jeff (Sandy) Brindley of Indianapolis; her grandchildren Donavon Finch, Xavier Artman, Braxton Hogan-Finch, Eli Artman, and Jaxxon Artman; and several nieces and nephews.
Rev. Matt Satter will conduct a funeral service on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 7 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street, Morgantown, IN. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. and continue until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
