John Edward Roberts

John Edward Roberts, age 62, of Edinburgh, passed away peacefully in the morning on Friday, October 11, 2024, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior.

John was born on September 23, 1962, in St. Louis, Missouri, to his parents, the late Wayne A. and Mary (Reffitt) Roberts. A proud 1980 graduate of Southport High School, John retired in 1998 after 20 years of service as Manager of Waste Water Management for the City of Indianapolis.

A faithful servant of the Lord, John was an active and devoted member of Grace Assembly of God in Greenwood, where he volunteered at the Food Pantry and was deeply involved with Junior Bible Quizzing. He was also a proud member of the Mopar Classic Car Club and loved showing off his prized 1970 Yellow Dodge Dart.

John was known for his generosity and willingness to help others, whether it was getting an automobile running or offering rides to doctor appointments. Above all, John cherished his family, and they will fondly remember his love and support. He loved spending time in nature, especially deer hunting, and he found great joy in listening to Christian music and attending Christian concerts. John also enjoyed long days at the beach with his wife hunting for shark’s teeth.

John is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca J. (Watson) Roberts, whom he married on November 9, 2013, in Greenwood. He is also survived by his children, John (Riah) Roberts of Zionsville, Stasha (Anthony) Deem of Edinburgh, Amanda (Shaz Abdur Raheen) Dulaney of Franklin, Jamie Roberts of Beech Grove, Aaren Dulaney of Taylorsville, and Jerad Dulaney of Chillicothe, OH; his sisters, Brenda (Howard) Cravens and Frankie (John) Bates; and his cherished grandchildren, Karson, Kyran, Hollie, Amira, Levi, Saood, Salem, Dakota, Aleena, Ben, Dawson, Dexter, and Salah.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne A. and Mary Frances Roberts; his brother, James Roberts; his sons, Joshua and Jeremy Roberts; and two infant children.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 15th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street, Morgantown. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 16th, at 11:00 a.m., with one hour of visitation prior. Pastor Jason Dailey will officiate. Burial will follow at St. George Lutheran Church Cemetery.
