John Wayne Cordray

The family of John Wayne Cordray, announce his passing on January 29, 2026 at the age of 78.

John was born on September 10, 1947 in Michigan City, Indiana to Mary Jane (Peo) Cordray and Vernon Allen Cordray.

He worked as a roofer and owned and operated his own roofing company for several years. John enjoyed tinkering with lawn mowers and small engines. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors by chopping wood, gardening and watching the birds.

John was preceded in death by both parents; three brothers; Richard Allen Cordray, Sammy Johnson, Danny Johnson, and one sister, Lana Faye Neal and nephew, Jesse Cline.

He will be missed by his sisters, Janet Brown, Sandy Cash, Judy (David) Walker, Mary Jane  (Randy) Murray, Kathi (Carl) Johnson, and Pamela (fiancé Jody) Cline; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
