Jeanette Richart Obituary

Jeanette (Southern) Richart, age 82 passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, August 7th 2024 at the Countryside Meadows in Avon. She was a former resident of Nashville and Bloomington.

Jeanette was born February 5, 1942 in Monroe County to her parents, the late William H. and Lillian (Williamson) Southern. She was a 1960 graduate of Bloomington High School. She married James “Jim” V. Richart on February 3, 1980 at the Westside Assembly of God in Bloomington. He passed away in 2013 after 33 loving years of marriage.

Jeanette was a former member of Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville. She served as a Trustee on the Deckard Cemetery Board in Brown County. Jeanette had a passion for history and was also a member of the Brown County Genealogical Society and the Monroe County Historical Society.  Jeanette helped write and publish several books concerning the History of Monroe County, history of Deckard Cemetery as well as several genealogies for families in Brown and Monroe County.

Jeanette is survived by her brother, Mike (Donna) Southern of Indianapolis; son, Douglas Howard Wilcher of Bloomington, 3 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jim, and brother William Henry “Little Bill” Southern.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 12th at Deckard Cemetery in Brown County. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown.
