James L. “Jim” Bucksot, age 78 passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 9, 2024 at Rosegate Village in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis and a former resident of Greenwood and Morgantown.
Jim was born May 28, 1946 in Indianapolis, to his parents, the late Joseph D. and Gladys M. (Zimmerman) Bucksot. He was a 1965 graduate of Morgantown High School. Jim retired in 2008 from Quality Control of Eli Lilly & Company in Indianapolis after 39 years of service. He was also the owner and operator of Buck Ridge Beagles in Greenwood for over 30 years. Jim was a member of both the Central Indiana Kennel Club and the Southeastern Indiana Beagle Club. He raised Show Beagles and received many championships and awards for his efforts.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Constance Dianne “Connie” (Groves) Bucksot, whom he married on November 27, 1989 in Pigeon Forge, TN. He is also survived by his children, Joe (Debra) Bucksot of Greenwood, Christy (Rodney) Thompson of Galveston and John (Ronda) Heubi of Parisburg, VA; grandchildren, Jesse Bucksot, Katie Hernandez, Savanna Thompson, McKayla Thompson, Missy Owens, Mindy Owens, Taylor Nickle, Anthony (Kelly) Nickle, Megan Nickle and Dylan Hitchcock; great grandchild, Ryan Owens, McKinsey Agee, John Agee and Serenity Nickle.
Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Marcella L. Nickle and a stepson, Bradley Nickle.
Pastor Gregg Moore will conduct a funeral service on Tuesday, June 18th at 1 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jim to the donor’s charity of choice or their own church.
