Hortencia Driskell, age 85 passed away Friday, February 3, 2023 at IU Health Bloomington. She was a resident of Spencer and former resident of Stinesville.
She was born August 5, 1937, in Juarez, Mexico and was a loving mother to her five children. Hortencia was a devout catholic who attended Saint Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Martinsville in the early 2000’s.
She loved to cook, paint, knit, and crochet. Hortencia also loved to sing and was self-taught on both the guitar and piano. She also enjoyed Mexican style and 50’s style dancing. On a pretty day, you would find Hortencia outside on the deck watching nature all while enjoying a smoke. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She will be missed by her children; Ralph (Judy) Driskell of Spencer, Tannie Childress and Connie Pursel both of Martinsville, Kathy Driskell of Spencer and Jackie ‘Missy’ (Jim) Reed of Martinsville; sister, Nancy (Dale) Ryan of Killeen, TX; 18 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren with 2 on the way.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Nunez; step-father, Pete Nunez; brother, Manual Agular and 2 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, February 10th at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church: 1709 E. Harrison Street in Martinsville. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be at St. Martin Catholic Church Cemetery in Martinsville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
