Herbert C. McCloud, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, December 12, 2022 at Southpointe Healthcare Facility in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis.
Herbert was born February 17, 1929, in Bedford, to his parents, the late Ernest C. and Mary Alice (Foddril) McCloud. He married Shirley Elizabeth Blood on April 25, 1977 in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death on May 30, 2015 after 38 loving years of marriage.
Herbert retired at the age of 62 from Kroger where he worked for over 40 years as a cashier and produce manager. He was a faithful follower of God and was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Indianapolis. Herbert enjoyed filling the role of usher for church and for Vacation Bible School. Herbert was proud to tell others of McCloud Nature Park in North Salem, which was once his grandfather’s land. Herbert enjoyed gardening and loved animals, especially Boston Terriers, which he and his wife, Shirley, bred and raised for many years.
He will be missed by several nieces and nephews as well as his church family.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley McCloud, infant sisters; Sarah Lucille & Virginia Ruth McCloud; and brothers, Ronald, Calvin & Virgil McCloud.
Bro. Roger Stevenson will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20th at Gospel Assembly Church: 5809 Bluff Road in Indianapolis. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown.
