Helen "Lucy" Lucille (Finch) Purdue

Helen Lucille “Lucy” (Finch) Purdue, age 85 passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, October 15, 2024 at Greenwood Health & Living Community. She was a resident of Nashville.

Lucy was born in Indianapolis on August 20, 1939 to her parents, the late Carol Evelyn and Pearl (Kapusta) Finch. She was a 1957 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis. Lucy was a devoted homemaker who became a self-taught artist at the age of 40. She was a multi-talented artist with acrylic and water colors. Many of Lucy’s paintings were on display at The Paint Box Art Gallery in Nashville. She enjoyed teaching adult art classes for over 20 years.

She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Brown County, Hoosier Homemakers in Martinsville and a former member of the Indianapolis Art Guild. Lucy enjoyed cooking, baking and caring for her fury friends, especially her dog Bear.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on April 23, 2010 by her loving husband of 52 years, Donald W. Purdue, who she married on December 14, 1957 in Indianapolis.

She is survived by her children, Ronald (Debby) Purdue of Indianapolis, Stefania Lucille (William) Purdue-Tewell of Indianapolis & Marty (Dawn) William Purdue of Coatesville; sister, Rebecca Jane Finch of Arizona; grandchildren, Misty Dawn Benedict, Robin Weiler, William Martin “Billy” (Sierra) Purdue, William Fredrick “Skip” (Kailey) Tewell Jr., Michael Kyle (Cassie) Purdue and Megan Nicole Tewell; and great grandchildren, Kalissa, Kailyia, Kelsey, Lindsey, Elijah, Ansel, Alexander, Mae, Ryland, Dean and Peyton.

The Rev. Dr. Steven Smith will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 21st at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
