Greta D. (Cline) Burkhart, age 65, of Brown County, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 19, 2025, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis.
Greta was born on May 14, 1960, in London, Kentucky, to the late Carlie “Calvin” Cline Jr. and Rebecca E. (Bruner) Cline. She attended Brown County High School and worked for over 30 years as a housekeeper for several families.
Greta lived for her family and serving the Lord. She enjoyed crafting, camping, and sewing. Greta was an avid fan of The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie. She was known for her excellent cooking and baking—especially her banana cream pie and strawberry trifle. Greta was the glue that held her family together, always planning get-togethers and bringing everyone close. She also lovingly cared for her cat, Elsie Faye, and her dog, Stella Mae.
Greta is survived by her children: David (Melody Brooks) Patton Jr. of Brown County, Andy (Jasmine) Patton of Brown County, Christina (Eric) Graham of Martinsville, and Ernest Ray Burkhart Jr. of Noblesville. She is also survived by her siblings: Diane (Mark) Elkins of Brown County, Angela Fletcher of Brown County, Wanda Bruner of Columbus, Bruce (Debbie) Williams of London, KY, and Bert (Barbara) Williams of Brown County. Greta was a proud grandmother of Dustyn (Courtny Corder) Patton, Gracelyn Patton, McKenna Patton, Madison (Ethan) Minnick, Jaylon Patton, Alli Gabbard, Grayson Gabbard, Olivia Graham, Christian Graham, Mya Burkhart and Tyler Burkhart; and great-grandmother to Laney Patton, Kasey Patton and Cole Minnick.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 26 years, Ernest “Ray” Burkhart Jr., whom she married on December 31, 1996, in Brown County. Greta was also preceded in death by her grandson, David Patton III.
