Georgiana (Tracy) Kinnett

Georgiana (Tracy) Kinnett, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, at her home in Morgantown, where she had been a lifelong resident.

Born December 16, 1935 in Morgantown, Georgiana was the daughter of the late George and Hilda M. (Satter) Tracy. She was a proud 1953 graduate of Morgantown High School and married the love of her life, William A. “Bill” Kinnett, on January 14, 1956 in Morgantown. Together, they raised a family and enjoyed 39 years of marriage before Bill’s passing in 1995.

Georgiana’s career spanned several decades, beginning as a typist for the Indiana State House in the Division of Public Works & Supply, followed by a role as a sales clerk at LS Ayres & Company. In 1974, she began working in bookkeeping at Morgantown First State Bank, where she worked for 28 years. She later transitioned to a teller position at People’s State Bank, retiring in 2013.

She was a 30-year member of the First Christian Church of Morgantown and a former member of the Morgantown Baptist Church. Georgiana’s love for her faith was evident as she played the piano for services. She was an active member of her community, participating in the Franklin Senior Bowling League, a local league in Martinsville, and the Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority. Georgiana enjoyed playing euchre and cherished her time spent visiting with friends at the Morgantown and Nineveh Senior Centers. She also enjoyed bus trips with her husband, watching IU Basketball games, and dining out. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Georgiana’s legacy lives on through her children, Les (Tina) Kinnett of Morgantown and Stan (Nikki) Kinnett of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren, Rebecca (Jon) Marvin of Bristow, VA, Stanley II (Erin) Kinnett of Winter Park, FL, Nickolas (Victoria) Kinnett of Bradenton, FL, Jeremiah (Emily) Kinnett of Greenwood, Samantha (John) White of Sarasota, FL and Rosie Kinnett of Bradenton, FL; and great-grandchildren, Isaac, Gabe, and Natalie Marvin, Ella, Naomi, Stanley III, Mable, Irene, William, Theo and Henry Kinnett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Bill, and her brother Harold Tracy.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 17th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Morgantown, 2717 S. Morgantown Road. The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service on Saturday, January 18th at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Funeral services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
