Estel R. "Buddy" Murphy

Estel “Buddy” Murphy, 74, of Brown County, passed away on January 15, 2026, surrounded by dear friends and family.

Buddy was a 1970 graduate of Brown County High School and spent more than 40 years traveling the country as an over-the-road truck driver, a life that suited his independent spirit. He lived life on his own terms, creating countless memories, and friendships along the way.

Though Buddy made many friends during his years crisscrossing the country, his most cherished friendships were rooted in Brown County. He delighted in sharing stories, laughing over old tales, and revisiting cherished hometown memories with dear friends. Now, he is reunited with the many friends who preceded him in death.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. Murphy and Dora I. Murphy. He will be dearly missed by his family, who will forever hold his stories, laughter, and love close.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 14th at 2:00 PM at the Fruitdale Fire Department. Cremation services provided by Meredith Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
