Elvin Douglas Olds

Elvin Douglas Olds, age 77 passed away peacefully on Monday evening, June 3, 2024 at his home in Brown County.

Elvin was born at home on January 16, 1947, in Brown County to his parents, the late Virgil Louis and Mary Ann (Bean) Olds.  He attended Brown County Schools and for a short time was employed as a Farmhand.  Elvin retired as a Carman from Penn Central Railroad in Beech Grove, where he had given more than 22 years of service to the railroad. 

Elvin enjoyed spending time in the outdoors cutting wood, mowing and welding. He will be remembered for his love of family and for being a scrap collector and trader.

Elvin will be missed by his children Vicki Britton of Edinburgh, Marie Olds of Martinsville and Lora Sizemore of Edinburgh; siblings: Edna “Jean” Olds of Brown County and Edith Dick of Trafalgar; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Elvin Olds Jr. & Leona Sizemore; brother, Gerald Wayne Dodson; and the mother of his children, Betty (Bowling) Olds.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nineveh Cemetery.
