Dody Clark, age 83 passed away peacefully on Monday morning, March 23, 2026 at Morgantown Woods of Journey in Morgantown, Indiana. She was a former resident of Indianapolis.
Dody was born on April 2, 1942, in West Virginia to her parents, the late Ed and Jessie (Copley) Clark. Growing up, she held the nickname “Elvira” because she resembled her at a young age. Throughout her life, Dody held many positions and was known for her work as a seamstress, dancer, and waitress. She loved to sing and especially enjoyed listening to music from the 1950s & 60s, as well as country music from the 1980s. She enjoyed dancing and had a deep love for animals, often being affectionately referred to as the “Cat Lady.”
She will be missed by her son, Thomas “Tom” (Tammy) Brown of Indianapolis, Indiana, Tony (Chrissy) Toth of Illinois, James (Kristen) Rush of Arizona, Tolly Toth of Washington and Allen Toth of California; grandchildren, Evelyn Dawn (Aaron) McCauley, Nathanial Lee (Chloe) Brown, Anthony (Savannah) Brown, Bryan (Shana) Brown, and Astrid (Sal) Hernandez; great-grandchildren, Nyla, Jasmine, Serenity and Emma; and former husband, Steven L. Chitwood.
Dody was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby Jean Clark and Donald Clark; and a grandson, Jacob Boyle.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 6th, 2026 at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. (For cemetery directions, please use the address across the street from the cemetery entrance: 529 IN-135 Morgantown, IN 46160)
Following the service, friends and family will gather for coffee and cake. Location information will be provided at the cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith Funeral Home in Morgantown.
