David H. “Dave” Pate, age 69 of Brown County, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, December 4, 2024 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. By his side was his loving wife of 46 years, Gail.
He was born in Brown County on January 6, 1955 to his parents, the late Kenneth and Frances (Hufford) Pate. He was a 1973 graduate of Brown County High School. Dave enlisted into the United States Army in 1973 and served in Panama with the 3rd Battalion, 51st Infantry Regiment with the rank of Specialist 4. He was honorably discharged in 1976. Dave retired as the Safety Training Coordinator in 2019 after 41 years of service from A.E.S. (formerly Indianapolis Power & Light).
He was very strong in his faith and will be remembered as the true definition of one who believed in God, Family and Country. Dave served as the President of the Brown County Veterans Coalition, Commander of the Brown County Honor Guard and as an Assistant Veterans Service Officer. He was a devoted and active member of the Brown County American Legion Post 13, where he served as the Unit Chaplain. Dave was blessed with a great family and numerous friends. Dave’s last words to his family “It’s all good.”
Deacon Duane Gibson will conduct a funeral service on Tuesday, December 10th at 4 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from noon until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Brown County Honor Guard and the United States Army.
