David Calloway Obituary

David Calloway, age 75 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Brown County.

David was born February 12, 1950 in Red Jacket West Virginia, to his parents, the late Carl and Helen May (Arbarday) Calloway. David grew up in West Virginia and, at the age of 17, answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Throughout his career, David worked as a warehouse manager for various companies across Indiana. However, his greatest passion was music. He built his first guitar at just 14 years old, sparking a lifelong devotion to the art. A talented musician, David once performed three sets with Loretta Lynn in West Virginia and went on to play bass and guitar with several bands, including Craig Laflin Momentum, High Ground, Wide Comfort Band, Black Cat & the Bonz, and Below Zero Blues Band.

David will be missed by his wife of 45 years, Christine (Carothers) Calloway, whom he married on August 18, 1979 in Plymouth. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 17th at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown with military honors presented by the United States Army.
