Darlene J. Soots, age 53 passed away all too soon on Sunday evening, November 27, 2022 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Brown County.
Darlene was born October 6, 1969 in Indianapolis, to her parents, Darryl Lee and Carol Lee (Cravens) Soots. She was a 1988 graduate of Brown County High School. Darlene enjoyed living in Brown County and worked for many local businesses in Nashville, including the Candy Dish, Hidden Valley Inn and the Comfort Inn.
She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, journaling and collecting crystals. Darlene was a fan of the Discovery Channel and Stephen King novels. She will be remembered for her love of nature and enjoying the great outdoors in the hills of Brown County. Darlene will also be remembered for her love of family, especially for her granddaughter, Marnie.
She is survived by her daughters, Jessika Fox of Brown County and Kathren ‘K.C.’ Fox of Ward, AR; husband, Clay Smith of Brown County; brother, Darryl Soots Jr. of Brown County; granddaughter, Marnie Slater.
Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Darryl Lee Soots.
A celebration of Dalene’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
