Danny Foy Obituary

Ret. U.S. Marine Corps, Gunnery Sergeant Danny Buck Foy, age 62 passed away all too soon with his loving family by his side on Monday morning, February 20, 2023 at his home in Brown County.

Danny’s legacy is his love for God, family, country and “Corps”. He was a devout follower of Christ and was a member of the Grace Reformed Church in Bean Blossom. He enjoyed reading, keeping up with politics, and home improvements. Danny also enjoyed cooking and baking, especially being known for his homemade pies. He was awarded the Reserve Champion Ribbon for his blueberry pie at the 2019 Brown County Fair. Danny was a man of great integrity, and a wholly devoted father and husband. He loved his family dearly and will be missed, especially by his wife and children.

Danny was born May 7, 1960 in Indianapolis, to his parents George "Bernie" and Patricia Ann (Steinbrecher) Foy. He attended Brown County High School until his senior year and graduated in 1978 from Tabernacle Christian High School in Martinsville. Danny went on to serve his country as a Gunnery Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps from 1979 to 1999. While in the service, Danny was overseas serving with the Marine-Wing Support Squadron’s 472 & 47, which provided essential aviation ground support. After he retired from the military, he received a degree in Education from Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, PA and went to work for the Pennsylvania State Welfare Department in Allentown, PA and later for the Social Security Administration in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Kyong Son (Kim) Foy, whom he married on January 11, 1985 in Doylestown, PA. Danny is also survived by his mother, Patricia Ann Foy of Nashville; children, Jannette (Seth) Taylor of Norfolk, VA, Kelly Foy of Nashville, Mary Foy and Jennifer Foy, both of Las Vegas, NV; siblings, Jan-Nette (Michael) Beaugh & Terry Ann Foy both of Nashville, Bridget Foy of Greenwood, Shonn Foy of Merritt Island, FL & Brian Foy of Nashville; and grandchildren, Aliya, Adilyn and Hunter.

He was preceded in death by his father; siblings, Christine Rowe and Kelly Foy.
