Dale W. Perry, age 83 passed away peacefully on Friday morning, August 23, 2024 at IU Health Methodist in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Avon and a former resident of Mooresville.
Dale was born April 13, 1941 in Mooresville. He went on to proudly serve with the 555th Ordnance Company of the United States Army from 1963 until Dale was honorably discharged on September 24, 1965. He was retired from Wal-Mart where he worked as a Truck Driver for over 30 years. Dale was a fan of Indiana University Men’s Basketball, the Indiana Pacers and NASCAR, with his favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt Jr. He enjoyed tending to his yard and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and visiting McDonald’s.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Peggy L. (Fox) Perry, whom he married on May 24, 1965 in Morgantown. He is also survived by his children, Rhonda Perry (formerly Knecht) of Cedarburg, WI, Rebecca (Kevin) McClure-Hooper of Harrisonburg, VA, and Richard (Laura) Perry of Brownsburg; seven grandchildren, Megan Knecht (Cameron Howk), Logan Knecht, Gracie McClure, Elizabeth McClure (Matt Combs), Kasey McClure, Elaina Perry and Gwendolyn Perry; sister-in-law, Betty Fox of Morgantown, nephew, Gary (Shelley) Fox; and a grand-nephew, Bobby Fox of Brown County; survived as well by Taylor Levisen and great-granddaughters, Dahlia Knecht and baby to arrive in September, Vivienne Knecht in Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Faye Perry. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Maude Perry, son-in-law, Devin T. McClure, mother-in-law, Catherine Fox, father-in-law, Leon Fox and brother-in-law, Arion Fox.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 29th at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown with military honors provided by the United States Army and the Martinsville American Legion & Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guards. Funeral services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
