Cody Michael Brown

Cody Micheal Brown, age 35, passed away all too soon on Monday evening, March 2, 2026, at his home in Brown County.

Cody was born in Bloomington on May 3, 1990. He was a 2008 graduate of Brown County High School. He worked as an Operator for Voils Concrete & Excavating in Brown County. Prior to that, he was an Installer for One Call Away Heating & Cooling in Trafalgar.

Cody loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, riding four-wheelers and scrapping. He loved his family dearly and especially cherished spending time with his son, Carter and his fiancée’s children by attending their sporting events. Cody was especially proud with earning his CDL and being able to operate heavy equipment alongside his brother-in-law, Ben. He will be remembered for being a true cat person and had a special place in his heart for his cats.

He is survived by his son, Carter Brown of Brown County; fiancée, Sindy Woolems of Brown County, and her children, Jade, Emma, and Noah; his mother, Teresa Jo “Terri” (Dale) Brown-Mayo of Brown County; his father, Michael Lincoln (Cher) Brown of Cave City, Kentucky; his siblings, Josh (Rae) Derringer of Columbus, Lacey (Ben) Voils of Brown County, Jennifer Patterson of Martinsville, and Brandy (Chad) Yorn of Paragon; his nieces and nephews, Tiler, Keeley, Kielynn, Blakely, Madison, Asher, Hadley, Silas, Asa, Derek, Alex, Trenton, Alexia, Connor, Jenna, Shelby and Kylie; and his lifelong best friend and cousin, Brad Smith of Brown County.

He was preceded in death by his brother, William Scott Derringer.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Meredith Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Frank Criswell.
