Charles 'Charlie' Sisson Obituary

Charles Wesley “Charlie” Sisson, age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, September 13, 2025, at Greenwood Village South. He was a resident of Greenwood.

Charlie was born on February 6, 1936, in Johnson County to the late William Ray and Jetta Pearle (Parker) Sisson. He was a 1954 graduate of Trafalgar High School and went on to attend Franklin College. Charlie retired in 2001 after 40 years of service as a Mold Maker, ultimately affiliated with Matchless Machine & Tool Company in Martinsville.

A member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Martinsville, Charlie formerly served as a Trustee. He was also active in the Martinsville Senior Center, where he loved to play euchre. A loyal supporter of Indian Creek High School Girls Basketball, Charlie also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, playing table tennis, and pitching horseshoes (and, later in life, cornhole).

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death on January 22, 2018, by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Esther (Smith) Sisson, whom he married on June 17, 1954, in Martinsville. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Dortha Thompson, Thelma Clark, Glen Sisson, Mildred Swartz, Donald Sisson, Ralph Sisson, Omer Sisson, and William Sisson.

He is survived by his children: Dr. Annette (Dr. Jimmy Davis) Sisson of Nashville, TN; Katrina Sisson of Greenwood; Thomas Sisson of Indianapolis; and Darrell Sisson of Whiteland. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Evan Marie Davis of Nashville, TN; Paul Davis (Rachel Kinney) of Arlington, VA; and Carson Brock (Jenna DeFrancesco) of Tallahassee, FL; as well as two great grandsons (Bowen and Sovereign Davis), sixteen nieces and sixteen nephews, and countless great-nieces and great-nephews.

The Rev. Rachel Kinney will conduct a funeral service on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Nast Chapel Cemetery in Martinsville.

To celebrate Charlie’s memory, consider attending Indian Creek women’s basketball games, or inviting friends over for a euchre game, or better yet, a euchre tournament.
