Charles "Charlie" Fields, age 92, of Martinsville, passed away on Wednesday morning, March 26, 2025, at The Waters of Martinsville.
Charlie was born on February 9, 1933, in Irvington, Kentucky, to Farmer and Claudia Mae (Stidham) Fields. He retired in 1994 from the Shipping Department of Bryant Heating & Cooling in Indianapolis after 27 years of service. A proud outdoorsman, Charlie enjoyed fishing, tending to his yard, and playing euchre and poker. He will be remembered for teaching all his children and grandchildren how to swim. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Charlie married the love of his life, Nancy J. (Eversole) Fields, on August 29, 1953, in Indianapolis. They shared 58 loving years of marriage before her passing on February 2, 2012. Charlie was also preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ricky, David, Ronnie, and Carlos Fields.
He is survived by his children: Linda C. Arsenault of Martinsville, Charlene Fields of Martinsville, Kenneth (Debbie) Fields of Brown County, and Danny (Lisa) Walker of Martinsville; his brother, Darrell Fields of Hazard, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Tinsey (John) Rode of Martinsville; as well as twelve grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 31st, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, located at 179 E. Mulberry Street, Morgantown. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., will be conducted by Officiant Christopher Jones. Burial will take place at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
