Cary Dean Carlile, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday afternoon, April 28, 2026. A resident of Morgantown and formerly of Brown County, Cary will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born in Franklin on October 4, 1966, Cary graduated from Brown County High School in 1985. He went on to work as a Crew Leader for Sub Surface of Indiana (SSI) in Morgantown. Cary took pride in hard work and had a natural talent for landscaping. He found joy in mowing, planting flowers, and often went out of his way to care for the yards of others who needed a helping hand.
Cary had a deep love for the outdoors. Whether he was feeding birds and squirrels, mushroom hunting, or fishing—especially ice fishing—he felt most at peace in nature. He also enjoyed the thrill of drag racing his Mustang, riding his motorcycle, and listening to his favorite loud music. He especially cherished traveling by motorcycle to Sturgis and Daytona for Bike Week.
Above all, Cary cherished his family. He was a devoted son, father, brother, and friend, as well as a true dog lover. Known for his generous spirit, Cary was always willing to lend a hand and stayed busy through his strong work ethic and caring nature. In his quieter moments, he enjoyed watching Street Outlaws and playing Guns of Glory.
Cary is survived by his loving mother, Suzanne L. Davis of Morgantown; his father, Roger Carlile of Princes Lakes; his son, Cary Carlile II (fiancée, Kylie) of Indianapolis; his stepdaughter, Alexa Hughes (James) of Martinsville; and his brothers, Kevin Carlile of Morgantown and Craig Carlile (Laurie) of Brown County.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Meredith Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Roy Hendershot.
