Carolyn Sue (Carrico) Adams, age 85 passed away peacefully on Monday morning, May 20, 2024 at Morgantown Woods Senior Care. She was a longtime resident of Morgantown.
Carolyn was born June 26, 1938 in Indianapolis and was the oldest of seven children of Joseph D. and Helen Christina (Becker) Carrico. She attended Roncalli High School in Indianapolis. Carolyn was a loving homemaker, mother, sister and grandmother. She was also a loyal neighbor to many that she spoiled on their birthdays with homemade cookies and candy.
Carolyn was a former member of the Morgantown Senior Center and the Bunker Hill Volunteer Fire Department, where she was a past President of the Ladies Auxiliary. Carolyn was a fan of all kinds of music and had an extensive record collection from symphony music to Willie Nelson. She was an avid reader of Amish stories and murder mysteries. Carolyn enjoyed playing euchre, visiting with family and friends on her front porch and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She will be remembered for her love of cooking and those requesting her lasagna, fried chicken and five cup salad.
Besides her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death on August 19, 2014 by her husband of 58 years, Billy J. Adams, whom she married on November 23, 1955 in Indianapolis. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Adams; son-in-law Jerry Schmidt and siblings, Kathleen McGraw and Mary Vernick.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Mark Adams of Bargersville, Tonya (Jack) Jones of Trafalgar & Donna (Jerry) Schmidt of Shoals; siblings, Danny (Maggie) Carrico of Indianapolis, Joyce Vernick of Rockville, Theresa DeCoursy of Indianapolis, David (Mary) Carrico of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren & several great-great grandchildren; step siblings, Vicky (Spencer) Gillman and Phyllis Gillman; and a brother-in-law Jimmy (Ruth) Adams.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, May 23rd from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 23rd at the funeral home. Carolyn will be laid to rest next to her husband at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
