Carey Ledford Obituary

Carey Charles “Cob” Ledford, 76, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on December 29, 2025.

Born in Harlan, Kentucky on March 11, 1949, Charlie was the son of the late Dan Smith and Verley (Spurlock) Ledford. He spent more than 20 years as a dedicated truck driver for Carmel Concrete.

On November 27, 1971, Charlie married the love of his life, Sandra Belle (Huxley) Ledford. They shared 53 years together.

Charlie was a man who found joy being with his family and he loved his “Grand Babies” so much. He loved the Lord and loved going to church and reading his bible. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and working in his garden.

He survived by his daughters, Stacie (Jeremy) Baker of Morgantown and Verley Ledford of Brown County; grandchildren, Lindsey (Craig) Zupancic of Morgantown, Tyler (Karleigh) Baker of Greenwood, Susan (Chase) Malan of Morgantown, Lauren (Garrett) Bailey of Trafalgar, Sierra Baker of Morgantown, Savannah King of Michigan, Khaley Ann of Edinburgh, Charles King of Colorado, and Devin Lawson of Greenwood; great-grandchildren, Darcy & Dawson Zupancic, Cooper, Carter & Casey Malan, all of Morgantown, and Greyson Elliott of Michigan; and one great grandson on the way, Colson Bailey due January 29th.

Charlie is further survived by his siblings: Tennie Houston of Zionsville, Jack (Jane) Ledford of Barbourville, Kentucky, Gary Ledford of London, Kentucky, and Judy (R.G.) Jones of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Sandra “Sandy” Belle (Huxley) Ledford, who passed away on April 22, 2024. His siblings Vivian Noe, Evaline Austin, and William Ledford.

A funeral service conducted by Rev. Eugene Baker and son-in-law, Jeremy Baker will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 2nd at Meredith Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
