Beverley K. “Bev” (Hamilton) Rainwater, age 77 passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday morning, August 12, 2024. She was a life-long resident of Morgantown.
Bev was born April 28, 1947 in Martinsville, to her parents, the late Floyd and Ermel (Way) Hamilton. She was a 1966 graduate of Morgantown High School. Bev was a loving wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother and sister.
Besides her parents, Beverley was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Glenda Clark.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Jimmy L. Rainwater, whom she married on May 21, 1966 in Morgantown. Bev is also survived by her children, Deanna (David) Bledsoe of Morgantown, Robbie (Karen) Rainwater of Trafalgar and Randy (Gwen) Rainwater of Morgantown; mother-in-law, Alma Rainwater of Morgantown; grandchildren: Allison (Chad) Walker of Morgantown, Jacob Broyer of Franklin, Karla Butler of Morgantown, Kameron Rainwater of Trafalgar, Curtis (Kahra) Rainwater of Morgantown and Gaige Rainwater of Hofu, Japan; great grandchildren, Riley, Reagan, Kayli and Mason; siblings, David (Norma) Hamilton of Hartford City, Leon (Judy) Hamilton of Trafalgar, Donna Gregory of Trafalgar and Marilyn Ramsey of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Gospel Light House Church (formerly, Morgantown Assembly of God) in Morgantown, where Bev was the Song Leader. She was very instrumental and one of the original founders of Col. Vawter Day in Morgantown. Bev enjoyed singing, relaxing in the pool, cross stitching, vacationing in Ft. Myers, FL and caring for her dog, Buddy. She also enjoyed watching soap operas and was a fan of Indiana University Men’s Basketball. Bev will be remembered by family and friends for being the best pie maker in Morgantown.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August, 15th at 1 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
