Pastor Barbara E. ‘Barb’ (Robbins) Wood, age 81 passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2022. She was a resident of Charlestown, IN and a former resident of Nashville, IN.
Barb was born September 26, 1940, in Indianapolis, IN to her parents, the late Earl C. and Mary Jane (Thomas) Robbins. She was a 1959 graduate of Manual High School in Indianapolis.
Known to her friends and family as Barb, she had a calmness of spirit that came from her absolute trust in God. She loved Easter and wanted others to realize the importance of Resurrection Day and its meaning to the world. As a devoted former Pastor at Goshen Church, from 2005 - 2013, Barb's life encouraged others in their everyday challenges. She felt it was a Christian privilege to have served for 27 years with 'A Walk to Emmaus' Christian Ministry that enriches others in their Christian walk. Barb also remained active in the traveling ministry she founded in 1986 called 'Growing in the Word Ministry’ and performed weddings for many happy couples throughout her years in the ministry.
She was a dedicated and tireless worker for most of her life who loved to cook and camp out with her children and grandchildren. Barb enjoyed fishing and loved to camp at several state parks. Her three children were her life and in her earlier years, she wrote about their life growing up. She was also a writer of newsletters and poems, many of which were published. An adventurer at heart, she took to the sky at age 70 for the thrill of sky diving, singing 'You Are My Sunshine' as she neared landing so her children could hear her joy in the experience. Barb spent her later years enjoying time with family, friends, and her cherished companions, FiFi and Molly.
She leaves behind her beloved children, Douglas Michael Wood & Melissa Ann Meadows, both of Indianapolis & Matthew (Patricia) Todd Wood of New Albany; sisters: Debra (Joe) Hanson & Judith Hehe, both of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; Mark, Timothy, Thomas, Brandon, Scott, Kimberly, Nicholas & Nathan; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown, IN. Friends may call from noon until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Barb to Goshen Church, PO Box 126 Trafalgar, IN 46181.
