Barbara L. (Rasmussen) Charon, age 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Nashville, Indiana, on Wednesday morning, October 1, 2025.
Barbara was born on June 26, 1936, in Hutchinson City, Minnesota, to her parents, the late William G. and Tillie Odella (Barka) Rasmussen. She enjoyed a vibrant career as a stewardess with TWA, based out of Phoenix, Arizona. Barbara also had a career as a licensed hair dresser.
A gifted artist, Barbara filled her home studio with beautiful oil paintings that reflected her love for nature and her surroundings. Living near the iconic Bean Blossom Covered Bridge, she was known for warmly greeting visitors—many of whom became lifelong friends—and inviting them to her nearby studio. In her free time, she enjoyed playing the piano, traveling and cooking delicious meals for her friends.
Barbara had a deep appreciation for the wildflowers and rolling hills of Brown County, where she found joy in tending her yard, painting and exploring the natural beauty around her. Her greatest joy, however, was her son, Jay “Eric” Charon. Since his passing in 1991, Barbara lovingly kept his memory alive, honoring the bond they shared.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 6, at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may visit from 5 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s memory to the Brown County Art Guild, PO Box 324, Nashville, IN 47448.
