Anabel Teeters Obituary

Anabel F. (Sanders) Teeters, age 100, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Grand Valley Health & Rehab in Martinsville. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Anabel was a lifelong resident of Trafalgar and a cherished part of her community for a full century.

Born on November 20, 1924, in Trafalgar to Ira T. and Lillian A. (Bradley) Sanders, Anabel lived a long and full life marked by quiet strength, deep faith, and steadfast love for her family. She graduated from Trafalgar High School in 1943 and soon after married her sweetheart, Elmer Burl Teeters, with whom she shared 61 devoted years of marriage until his passing on February 4, 2005.

Anabel spent over 30 years working as a Certified Nursing Assistant, caring for others with patience and compassion at Henderson Nursing Home in Morgantown and other local nursing homes. Earlier in her life, she worked at Diamond Chain in Indianapolis.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a dedicated member of Beech Grove Baptist Church in Trafalgar for 16 years and previously worshiped for more than 50 years at Christian Chapel Church in Morgantown. Anabel loved being active in her community, participating in the Red Hat Society, the Hensley Township Home Economics Club, and the Nineveh & Trafalgar Senior Centers.

Anabel had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys—traveling, especially cruises with her sister Norma, reading, and spending time with her family, who were the pride of her life. Her warmth, wit, and wisdom left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis Ray (Patricia) Teeters of Trafalgar and Daniel L. (Melissa) Teeters of Martinsville; her sister, Norma Vansickle of Trafalgar; brother, Richard Sanders of Bargersville; granddaughters, Renae (Fred Hourigan) Teeters of Trafalgar and Beth (Lindsey) Teeters of Columbus; and great-granddaughter, Mary Teeters of Florida & great-grandsons, Hayden and Tanner Bannick of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, her parents, and a brother, Theodore Sanders.
